August 6, 2008

The Canadian group Research In Motion (RIM) formally presented the new version of the BlackBerry multifunction telephone; Bold is the BlackBerry 9000, which aims to compete more directly with Apple's iPhone. Will it command the massive audience that the iPhone did upon release? Probably not, but we won't know until the American launch, which is set for sometime in September.

Bold The Blackberry 9000 has a screen much sharper than the current model, Curve, with the latest technology. Also, it has a dual purpose - it may be used for work and for recreational purposes.

It has a screen with twice the resolution regarding the previous model, which allows you to have a clearer view. Although it has the same quality, it does not have the size of Apple's iPhone, which has emerged as a strong competitor in the same class.

The U.S. press see the BlackBerry Bold 9000 as a great competitor for the new generation of iPhone, although it does not incorporate touch screen and remains thicker. The new phone has improved the multimedia functions, and incorporates a 2-megapixel camera with zoom, and allows you to play videos.

In a press release, the company stated that the mobile phone, which will be available in black, will be the first device compatible with the HSDPA high-performance networks. They also have Internet access Wi-Fi, GPS positioning system and USB 2.0 connection. The GPS and high speed network capability is a huge draw for techno nerds across the planet.

The BlackBerry Bold also allows the user to customize the look of cellphone housings with some color, which can be blue, brown, green, gray or red. Many aftermarket accessories are emerging as more and more launches take place around the world. With the upcoming American launch, you can bet that there will be accessories up the yin-yang.

The BlackBerry Bold allows, "talking on the phone while sending and receiving e-mails, surf the Internet and download programs and work with Word, Excel and Powerpoint," according to RIM. The unit is also responsible for playing music, viewing photos and videos. It's a pretty sharp device, and will prove to be a hot seller for die hard Blackberry addicts, as well as people who are new to the addictive devices.
