Blackberry 9000 Details

One of the most popular opinions about the Blackberry 9000 is that it is the non-Apple version of the iPhone. For people who long for an iPhone but might not be able to cough up that much money, the Blackberry 9000 does present a loaded alternative. Current rumors abound as to whether or not there it will feature a front mounted camera to make the phone video call ready.
The video rumors started with Luis Rodriguez who seems to have access to a pre-production Blackberry and posts information about it on the Apple Weblog—an unofficial Apple blog.
As to whether or not the Blackberry is really an iPhone in disguise is still up for debate. An article published by NationalPost.com says that it doesn't look likely that the Blackberry 9000 will feature the same multi-touch screen offered by the iPhone. Of course, the Blackberry 9000 wasn't meant for internet browsing or listening to music, it was made for business people as a tool to make their days easier. Some say that Blackberry users will gladly sacrifice the internet browsing for an easier typing experience.
Another rumor circulating about the Blackberry 9000 has been reported on Techradar.com: an expansion slot that will be used to give the latest Blackberry model a longer battery life than the Blackberries that have come before it. The short battery life of the Blackberry is well known, so many are hoping that the lengthened battery life is more than just a rumor.
The longer battery life would definitely be needed in the event that video conferencing is a feature of the Blackberry 9000. It would be needed to keep the screen lit, power the Blackberry's Wi-Fi connection and an audio speaker. Without a larger battery, users would need to keep close to an electrical outlet and make sure they had a charging station and Bluetooth headset readily available. Of course—if you have to carry all of that with you, you'd probably be better served using a desktop computer and web cam for your video conference calls.
One thing is for sure: The Blackberry 9000 is a highly anticipated device. People who have had the opportunity to preview the phone liken it to an iPhone, and others worry about the battery life, but one thing is for sure: this is no regular cell phone/PDA. This is the office tool of the future!
